Handy didn’t start in a boardroom. It started in a garage with some leftover resin, lots of ideas, and a bunch of bodysurfers giving honest feedback on what worked and what didn’t. The Handy Crew is the formalised version of that. Here’s what it is, why it exists, and what you actually get.
Why the Crew exists
Every shape in the current Handy lineup made the cut because of honest feedback from bodysurfers. The Model H going viral wasn’t a marketing campaign. It was a community moment. A direct line between Handy and the people who actually bodysurf them. No middlemen, zero noise.
The Handy Crew is how that evolution continues. Made by bodysurfers, for bodysurfers.
What the Crew is, and what it isn't
One tier. Free. No points, no rankings. You’re either in or you’re not, and if you’re in, you get everything.
It’s not a loyalty program. It’s not a discount club. The whole idea is that the people in the Crew help shape the brand. That means decisions like which colourways get made, what comes next, what gets built. The Vote is the first example, but it’s not the only one — there are more like this to come.
What you actually get
The list, plainly. No fluff.
- The Vote. You decide which colourways get made, and the runners-up come back later as Crew-only drops.
- Crew-only colourways. At least once a year. Not available to the general public.
- Pre-order price lock. Crew members get the lowest pre-order tier on launches.
- Test Rider program. Twice a year, a handful of Crew members get pre-production boards in exchange for honest feedback. Real input on what’s working and what needs changing before it goes to production.
- Quarterly catch-up - what's being made, what's next, and the stuff that doesn't make it to socials.
- $25 birthday voucher. Use it on a board, accessory, or apparel.
- $25 friend referral. You vouch for Handy, your mate signs up, you both get $25 off.
No fine print. No “valid on selected lines only.” No “expires in 30 days.” The Crew works because it’s straightforward.
The Vote
Three boards ready to go, Hippy Trippy, Wish Me Luck, Model H, and three colourways for each. Nine options total. The Handy Crew votes on which colourways get made first. Winning colourways lead the range. Runners-up may come back later as Crew-only drops.

Down the track
A few things are on the horizon that aren’t ready yet.
A proper member area on the site, somewhere members can log sessions, share waves, find other Crew nearby. A surf calendar, basically. Not a forum, not a Facebook group. Something genuinely useful that grows into a community over time. That’s a 2027 build, not 2026, but it’s where this is heading.
A Crew trip. The plan is an annual surf trip for Crew members. We’ve parked it for now until the brand has its feet under it, but it’s on the list. When the time’s right, it happens.
